Anyone can experience trauma...

IT IS POSSIBLE TO RECOVER FROM TRAUMA. A trauma response can result from any event which a person experiences as overwhelming, or is a threat to life and safety. This can include surgery, loss of a loved one, childhood neglect, or a natural disaster. The part of the brain activated is the most ancient part which is designed to protect survival. It's strategies are Fight, Fight, Freeze or Forget. The higher brain functions of language and judgment go "off line."

GREATER WELLBEING IS POSSIBLE. We all can learn better skills of self-regulation and self-responsibility, to feel "at home", both safe and empowered, in our bodies and in the world.

WE CAN MOVE FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF TRAUMA TO ONE OF GREATER WELL BEING. I use body-oriented psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing to help you move from one state to another. I can teach you to communicate with this part of the brain and nervous system by learning how to pay attention to subtle cues in the body such as sensation, breath and muscular movements. Together we can help the nervous system contain "activation", and learn to relax and achieve equilibrium.
