HOME NEUROPHYSIOLOGY OF TRAUMA AND WELL BEING SYMPTOMS OF TRAUMA BACKGROUND CONTACT

Background

Education and License:

I received my Masters in Psychological Counseling in 1979, from San Francisco State University, and received a license in Marriage, Family, Child Therapy, in 1981.

Experience:

I worked as a Child and Family Therapist for non-profit and County Agencies, for 20 years. I also worked with adults who had addictions, or were HIV+. In addition, I helped design and present a drug intervention program for teens, focused on helping them explore and practice decision making skills in complex situations. I provided consultation to schools and agencies.

Specialized training:

I have completed a 3 year training program, called Somatic Experiencing(R). I am in the process of completing the requirements for supervision before becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practicioner. This program, designed by Peter Levine, who wrote Waking the Tiger, details a method of recovering from trauma, shock, and other problems related to the destabilizing of the nervous system.

Private Practice:

I have had a private practice for 10 years. My fee is $90 for an hour, $110 for 90 minutes. Insurance reimbursement, sliding scale, may be possible. Please feel free to email me with your questions about fees, or about Somatic Experiencing (R).

Spirituality:

I have been exploring the interface between pyschology and spirituality for 20 years. After 10 years with Diamond Heart(R), I became interested in how the body holds patterns and influences our personality. I have been studying Somatic Buddhism through Zapchen(R) for 10 years, and this approach infuses my work. (See www.Zapchen.com).
